Permission to Enjoy Life

So I commend the enjoyment of life… -Ecclesiastes 8:15 NIV

Jesus said He came that you may enjoy life, which means that you’ve been given permission. But just because you’ve been given permission, doesn’t mean you’re doing it.

Likely it’s because the enemy came to steal, kill and destroy your life. Just as he did with Eve, he’s telling lies and half-truths, trying to convince you either that you’re missing out on something amazing because God is withholding it from you, or that you’re not worthy of getting it.

Satan came to rob you of your purity, strength, blessings and relationships. By continuously cascading you with his lies, he’s often able to break down your defenses so that you won’t fight him anymore.

Jesus said you are His sheep and that His sheep always follow His voice because they are familiar with it, but never follow a stranger, (John 10:3-5). The best way to get to know God and really recognize His voice is by spending quality time reading His Word and in prayer.

The enemy knows this too, which is why he’s always ready with distractions to keep you from having that time. Making it your priority is what leads to your enjoying life. Jesus has promised you an amazing and free gift, but you still need to choose to whose voice you will listen and follow.
