Anticipation

And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, “If only I touch His garment, I shall be made well.” –Matthew 9:20-21 NKJV

The woman in this Scripture passage was very ill. She was considered to be unclean and an outcast in her society due to this permanent condition. Imagine the emotional and physical turmoil she endured for twelve long years. She probably sought out many physicians and spent a lot of money trying to find relief from this malady that tormented her.

Then the woman heard about Jesus—the Physician of all physicians, who could bring relief to body, spirit, and soul. She knew it would be very hard to get through the enormous crowds that always surrounded Him, but her faith was so great that she pushed aside all obstacles and believed in her heart that “if only I touch His garment, I shall be made well.” After waiting in anticipation, which is the act of expectation without doubt, she reached out, touched His hem, and was instantly healed.

Psalm 27:14 (NKJV) says, “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage…” Whatever your situation is, give it all to Jesus! Pray with all your heart, and then wait in anticipation for something extraordinary to happen.

prayer focuses

Holy Spirit, help me to keep my gaze upon Jesus as I walk through the valley of pain.

Help me, Lord, to have a thankful heart in every situation in my life.
