Rejoice! You’re Called By God

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. -Galatians 5:1 NIV

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. -Galatians 5:1 NIV

When you see men and women in the Armed Forces, what comes to mind? Do you feel a sense of freedom knowing they are fighting for you? Do you feel a deep sense of respect? Even when you don’t personally know them, their name causes you to have that deep sense of respect and gratitude. Being a part of the U.S. Armed Forces—regardless of the branch—means something. And that’s how it should be with Christians.

Christians are called by God’s Name. It’s the same as a child being born into a family. That child takes on the surname—also known as the last or family name—of the father.

When you become a child of the living God, you trust and believe in Him and accept His Son as your Savior. And when you do, you are then adopted as His son or daughter and given His Name as well as every privilege that accompanies His Name.

Do you act as though you carry His Name?

So many men and women in the Armed Forces have sacrificed their lives for the sake of freedom. In an even larger way, Christ went before you and became the sacrifice for you so that you could freely walk and be called by the Name of the Father. It is your responsibility to spend daily time with Him so that He can fully unwrap what that means for you.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray for God to help you discover the freedom you live in today.
  • Thank God for the sacrifice He made for you.
