Communication Is Key

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. -Psalm 27:14 NIV

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. -Psalm 27:14 NIV

In a relationship, the majority of arguments are due to unmet expectations. It’s not the expectations themselves that cause fights; it’s the lack of communicating them. People are not mind readers. How often have you heard—or used—the phrase, “if that person really knew me…” Your family, friends and employees may all know you really well, but they won’t get it right every time unless you communicate your needs and/or desires to them.

In fact, God still wants you to come to Him to voice your requests. He does this because He wants a real relationship with you—like the relationship you may have with family and friends.

Are you making your requests known to God? Speak up today and let your needs be heard.

Christ calls this kind of communication abiding and says that if you will abide in Him and He in you, whatever you wish will be done for you, Apart from Him, you can do nothing. The word, “abide,” means to live in close proximity to Him, to be continually in His presence, and to wait for [or expect of] Him.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that God would heal your past hurts that are keeping you from being open and vulnerable.
  • Ask that God would help you to live in healthy relationships with those around you.
