Conformed & Confirmed | Friday | August 24

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. –Romans 12:2 NIV

Have you ever really considered that the best way to know how and by what you’ve been shaped is by evaluating the decisions you make in the vacuum of specific instructions? The values that are in your soul are revealed in the hundreds of choices you make every day.

How you interact with your annoying co-worker, what you say on social media, how you fill out your tax return, and how you complete tedious jobs are all clear indications of how your mind is conformed…revealing clearly whether you are shaped by the world or transformed by the Word.

Of course, you need to pray. And yes, you need to seek God; but at the same time, it is possible to know how to move forward even when you don’t hear any detailed answers. In those times, you can still make wise choices based on what you know about God, what you’ve read in His Word, and how He’s acted in the past. As your mind is conformed by these truths, you will be confidently “able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2 NIV).

Prayer Focus

  • God, help me be changed by Your truth so that I can confidently walk in righteousness.
  • Jesus, show me the truth about where I need to be shaped by Your Word so that I can confidently walk in Your will.
