How content are you? Do you spend more time yearning for this or that than you do enjoying what you already have?
Apostle Paul writes in Philippians 4:12 (NIV): I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
What was Paul’s secret? He says, I can do all this through him [God] who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13 NIV). And Hebrews 13:5 (NIV) tells us to Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Contentment, peace of mind and spirit, is found in our faith in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—not luxury cars, mega-homes, designer clothes, or the latest gadgets.
- Pray that you will value God’s attention more than the momentary attention you may receive from worldly possessions.
- Pray for a mindset like Paul’s—that you will learn to be content in every situation.
