God’s Protection

My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. -Psalm 62:7 NLT

My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. -Psalm 62:7 NLT

When David was running and hiding from his enemies, he was hiding in caves. A cave can be a lonely, dark, and scary place. Or it can be as David says, a place of refuge, a shelter, or protection from danger.

In Psalm 62:2-7, David says, “So many enemies against one man…To them I am just a broken-down wall, a tottering fence,”

Who are your enemies that are in such distress?

Standing on God’s mountain, looking down, you will see they are fierce and hungering to devour you. But realize, they are only a threat if you come down. When you are hiding in God’s cave on that mountain, you are in His protection. And that’s how your attitude ought to be all the time.

When the world comes against you, whether through unexpected bills, sickness, or any thought or whisper, that is not of God. Don’t leave your fortress to inspect those things. Instead, draw closer to God, your fortress, your rock, your refuge, and your protection. When you invest more in your relationship with your Father, you will uncover new levels of intimacy than ever before.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray for God to always draw you closer into His intimacy .
  • Ask for God to fill you with His love so they you may overflow into those around you.
