Discouraged

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

–John 16:33 NIV

It is common to face discouragement in this world. Loneliness, poor health, struggles with job or relationships can cause you to be discouraged. You can be filled with worry, which can cause anxiety. It is difficult to function in your own strength. Life is not an easy road. There are peaks and valleys, but you can rise above them when adversity comes.

The power of God opens your heart to let His power take over. You can’t get through every hardship on your own. It’s impossible. You may blame others, feel God is not answering your prayer, or just give up. When you have a relationship with Jesus, though, you can have confidence that He is with you through all your circumstances. Draw close and experience His deep concern for you.

Philippians 4:13 (NLT) says, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” That is the answer, not on your own but with His strength. Stand strong as Psalm 30:11 (NIV) says, “You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.” You don’t have to be discouraged when you believe and trust.
