Don’t Let Worry Rule Your Life

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. -Philippians 4:6 NIV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. -Philippians 4:6 NIV

Dis-ease, or worry, can occur in one or more of five areas:

Spiritually: could be a lack of trust or disobedience on your part.
Mentally: could be fear or anxiety from internal or external sources.
Emotionally: could be frequent or extreme changes in the “ups” and “downs” in your life.
Socially: could be a lack of someone to turn to.
Physically: could be a physical condition, requiring a change in one or more of these 5 areas.

It’s time to turn things around so that you can start enjoying life again. So how do we become anxious for nothing in these five areas?

Spiritually: Pray for wisdom. Seek God’s truths for your life. Trust that God has your whole world in His hands.
Mentally: Post God’s Word and reminders of His truths around your house, so that as internal and external attacks arise, you are better equipped to deal with them.
Emotionally: Seek wise counsel—through a counselor, friend, or doctor—regarding your frequent or extreme ups and downs. Perhaps just talking it through is enough to help you process your emotions.
Socially: Do everything you can to not isolate yourself. The enemy knows that we are strongest when we are walking with other believers, which is why he works so hard to isolate us.
Physically: If you need to make changes in your eating or exercising patterns, start slow and see if you can get your family or friends to do it with you. This will help to encourage and hold you accountable to the changes you want to make.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that you would turn to God, regardless of the “dis-ease” in your life.
  • Pray for the peace of Christ to increase in your life.
