Don’t Make Short-Term Choices

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

–Psalm 32:8 NLT

You have the choice to live under God’s care and protection or live life feeding your own selfish desires. It’s easy to trade long-term gain for instant gratification. Alcohol, drugs, money, power, and fame are tools the enemy may use to detour you from the long-term growth God has for you.

There’s another choice. Whether you realize it or not, God has chased after you since the day you were born. He already chose you—it’s up to you to choose Him in return. When you choose His path, you are choosing to live daily by His Word and in obedience to Him. Making the long-term choice allows God to protect you, guide you, and to be in a relationship with you. When you choose to live in a relationship with God, you enable Him to fill you with His never-ending joy and His unlimited peace. The fulfillment you seek can only be found in Him.

Prayer Focus

  • Ask God to reveal the areas you are turning to for fulfillment—rather than turning to Him.
  • Pray for the strength to live as an overcomer.
