Like The Eagles

Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits…who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. -Psalm 103:1, 5 NIV

Psalm 103:1-5 talks about remembering all the things God has promised to us: He forgives all our sins, heals all our diseases, redeems our lives from the pit, crowns us with love and compassion, and gives us the desires of our heart so that—like the eagle—we will be strong, overcoming, and soaring.

Far too often, we get caught up in the chaos of the trials and think, “Well, maybe I’ll just get through this unscathed.” But that’s not what God promises for His kids. Not only do we have the promises found in Psalm 103:1-5, but there are many more throughout the whole Bible: He promises He is with you, that He will watch over you wherever you go, He promises that nothing and no one is impervious to His Word, and He promises Jesus’s return.

In John 10:10, Jesus tells you not to live like the vultures of the world, only getting the few scraps that are left over. He promises that He came to give you life to the fullest, until it overflows. He came so that you would live like the eagles: strong, overcoming, and soaring. Are you living like a vulture—hoping just to get a few scraps—or like the eagle—expecting to find the fat portion, the best of the best? When trouble comes your way, as the Bible assures it will, do you crumble in the chaos, or do you stand firm upon your Rock and Fortress?

Prayer Focus

  • Pray boldly, declaring the promises of God over your life.
  • Pray that the people around you would be renewed and strengthened to live as the eagles do.
