May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us …
–Psalm 67:1 NIV
How do you “read” a person? You look at the person’s face. What do you see? A frown of disappointment, a tear of sadness, wide eyes in surprise, a sneer of revenge, a look of love, a smile of joy?
What does God’s face tell you? How does He “shine” His face on you? Could it be that He smiles at you? If yes, could a smile from you shine His light on others?
This well-known blessing has been memorized and recited for generations: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26 NIV).
As God’s child, shine your face (smile) on everyone you meet. Be gracious to them, and turn your face toward others, giving them a smile of peace. It will make a difference in their day—for real!
- Pray that your face will shine with God’s peace and joy for everyone you meet.
- Pray that a smile will be a permanent expression on your face—a blessing for all, including you.
