Finding Unity at Work

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!

–Psalm 133:1 NIV

Everyone has to face their own battles at work—one of God’s favorite places for shaping your character. It is easy to see unity at church. But what unites you with your imperfect and difficult colleagues, bosses, or subordinates? Each one is a child of God, just like you. God wishes them all to have joyful lives filled with peace and purpose. God wants you to help them on their journey. The rest are nonessentials. Whatever the situation, you are called to act with charity.

You are wired to think kind thoughts, to speak kind words, and to do kind things. Yes, even when dealing with those annoying types at work! God is bigger than those things that irritate you.  He can help you manage any and every difficult situation at work with grace, mercy, and compassion.

Prayer Focus

  • Ask God for the wisdom to know the difference between what truly matters and the nonessentials at work.
  • Pray that the Holy Spirit softens your heart and gives you the strength to act with kindness in all situations.
