The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. -Psalm 145:8 NIV
How many times have you had to count to ten to calm your anger? When the scripture says that God is slow to anger, do you think He counts to 10? Not likely.
The root word for slow means to delay or defer. God doesn’t see your outward appearance or failures. Instead, He sees the son or daughter He created and loves. If your life experiences have led you to believe that God is an angry dictator, believe differently today. That is not who He is.
The same God who gave visions to Daniel, who helped David kill a giant with small stones and a sling, who strengthened Ester as she approached the king, who raised Christ from the dead, is the same God who walks with you in patience because of His perfect love.
God is not waiting to punish you out of anger. He’s not waiting for the chance to take you out because you mess up. He delights in your accomplishments. He rejoices in your victories. He hurts in your pain. And He walks with you through it all. He loves you. You are His son. You are His daughter.
- Thank God that He will never forsake or abandon you.
