Then Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife… -Genesis 16:3 NIV
God promised Abram and Sarai a child. When God didn’t seem to be fulfilling His promise, Sarai took the matter into her own hands.
Does this story sound familiar? Often, we can rationalize that “God helps those who help themselves” and we plan to persuade God to act according to our will. We begin to go out in our own strength and try to do only what He can do.
Just like Sarai, you may find yourself wondering if God is ever going to come through for you. You may give into those frustrations and take matters into your own hands. When you do, the mess is huge and the consequences heartbreaking.
God won’t violate His own promises. You won’t always understand His timing or His ways but know that you can count on Him to keep His promise. His ways are perfect and He is NEVER late.
- Pray for your trust to grow as you are waiting on God’s perfect timing.
- Ask God to give you patience.
