So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
–Romans 10:17 NKJV
Faith is a conviction that what you believe is true. Everyone believes something, but it may not be based on truth.
Bible faith is founded on truth—God’s Word. The original Greek root word for faith comes from a verb meaning “to persuade by words.” God’s Word carries power to persuade. When you hear God’s Word, if you’re open to receiving the truth, faith will enter your heart.
What you believe in your heart will eventually find its way out of your mouth. If you believe something and continually say it, you will eventually receive it. That’s why it’s so important to know that what you believe is based on God’s Word. Then speak that truth often over your life, others’ lives, and especially in impossible-looking situations.
What are you believing and speaking? Is it based on God’s Word?
Here are a few truths you can believe and speak with confidence. God is good. God loves you. God is with you and for you. God is fighting for you and will not fail you. He will work everything for your good because you love Him and you are called according to His purpose.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to identify lies you may be believing and to reveal truth to you.
- Spend time in prayer speaking God’s Word with faith and gratitude.
