Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. –Romans 5:3-4 NIV
Many things in life are painful, such as childbirth, growing pains, betrayal, a broken heart, or the loss of a loved one. Whether by death, or a loved one simply walking away, it still hurts. Getting older isn’t for sissy’s either. Anyone who claims that when you come to Christ, life will be trouble-free, debt-free, or that you’ll never get sick or blindsided is only fooling themselves. Some of the most devout, praying people have had the most traumatic lives.
But even though life is often difficult and messy, we can still have hope. We can still face the most difficult days with a smile. Your tears never go unnoticed by God; He will never despise your broken and crushed spirit. Yes, we are walking through the valley of the shadow of death in life, but we need not fear evil. We are just passing through sojourners; our real lives are hidden in Christ.
When we focus on the bigger picture, not the present pain, we can overcome despair. Whatever you’re facing today, you’re not alone. The Father is with you every step of the way, every day. Our Father’s got this. He’s got your back—now go have a great day.
- Pain is part of life, learn from it.
- God’s bigger than your problems.
