Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy.
–Psalm 100:1-2 NLT
Today is the day! Today the Lord and Savior was born and we are celebrating His birth! No doubt you have been enjoying Christmas songs throughout the month on the radio, on your phone, at church, and within your heart. “Joy to the World,” “Silent Night,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “O Holy Night,” “The First Noel,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”… Oh how those tunes and words can grip a mind, body, and soul.
There is actually a “Hymn for Christmas Day” written by Edward Caswall in the 1800s. Portions of the lyrics will bring a smile to your face and perhaps a tear to your eye when considering the humble majesty of the Christ child, Christ the King: “Lo, within a manger lies He who built the starry skies; He who throned in height sublime sits amid the cherubim. Teach, O teach us, Holy Child, by Thy face so meek and mild, teach us to resemble Thee, in Thy sweet humility!”
You are welcomed with joy, Lord Jesus, into the our world, nation, community, church, and especially into our hearts. Hallelujah!
- Thank King Jesus for His selfless love that brought Him to earth to live and die—for you.
- Thank God Almighty for sharing His one and only Son with you—then, now, and for all eternity.
