And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. –2 John 1:6 NIV
If you call yourself a Christian (a follower of Christ), you should be living in a way that pleases God. As 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT) says, “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”
It is easy to love people who think and act like you—people who are in your circle. How do you react when people look differently, think differently, or speak differently? Life is full of people who may rub you the wrong way. Sometimes they could even be within your family. At times, we may have trouble even loving the people closest to us.
We can’t love everyone all the time in our own strength. We are just not capable. The only true source of strength and compassion is God. Don’t be distracted with differenc- es. Pray for the Holy Spirit to love others through you. Read God’s Word—the Scriptures are precious treasures. How we love shows how we live for God. Actions have to line up with our words. Try to love even more. This will please God, and you will be blessed.
- Jesus, teach me to love the unlovable.
- Thank God for His Word, which is never out-of-date.
