Indeed it was for my own peace that I had great bitterness; but You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back. –Isaiah 38:17 NKJV
God forgets all of our sins. This is such an incredible blessing! As Isaiah 43:25 (NKJV) says, “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins.” How tempting is it for us to remind ourselves or other people of past sins? God forgives our sins completely. We need to do the same on a daily basis; we should forgive ourselves and those around us completely.
Micah 7:19 tells us, “He will again have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.” The realization that the Almighty God forgives all our sins is so freeing! Why do we let ourselves get stuck in our past sins? We must move on and forgive ourselves.
C.S Lewis puts it so clearly when he says, “To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.” God provides us with an amazing example of this forgiveness in the person of Jesus Christ. We must ask the Holy Spirit to help us forgive ourselves and others. We can then increase our faith by being obedient to God and walking forward in forgiveness!
- Ask God to give you peace and love that is found in God’s forgiveness.
- Thank God for His forgiveness even when we do not deserve it!
