Making Wise Choices

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. –Hebrews 12:2-3 NIV

Life is like a book. It has a beginning, middle and end. Throughout time, you will experience a variety of chapters that will compile your life story. Whatever shape your story takes, somewhere along the way the acknowledgment and acceptance of Jesus Christ must take place. Without such your name will not appear in one of the most important books of all – the book of life.

As a follower of Christ, it is vital that you stay focused on Jesus—the author and finisher of your faith. Your thoughts form an inkwell, and your wise choices and actions are like a pen. As new pages of your life unfold, collaborate with God’s indwelling Spirit to edit, critique and make revisions. Learn to set healthy margins that will keep you in the center of God’s will and allow you joyfully to stay on course.

No matter what chapter of life you’re in, know that each day is an opportunity to make wise choices based on God’s truths. Desire to make the Bible your most valuable book, so you won’t be unsteady in your faith. Life is like a book; however, your life in Christ does not end. It will continue even after your story here on earth has been told. Aim to live and leave a godly legacy, as Jesus did— for family, friends and others to follow.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that God would reveal to you what errors you have made so you can ask for forgiveness and carry on with the great plans He has for your life.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to help you set healthy boundaries and margins that will allow you to live a life of influence while paving the way to leave a godly legacy.
