…Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!
–Genesis 19:17 NIV
Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet (hmmm…what’s that?!), eating her curds (yikes!) and whey (what?). Along came a spider that sat down beside her and frightened Miss Muffet away. Back in the 1500s in England, Miss Muffet’s stepfather was an entomologist (bug guy) whose research project probably got loose and ended up on the tuffet, much to her surprise!
Spiders come in all shapes and sizes, peril and pain. They can show up as betrayal, addiction, pride, dishonesty, etc. They can also be dressed as a best friend, a trusted colleague, or a well-mannered acquaintance. As frightening as these spiders are, you know that the only wise and healthy fear is of the Lord (Psalm 111:10 NIV). He will protect you from harm when you place your trust and peace in Him.
So, have a seat on your tuffet (ottoman) and enjoy your curds (cottage cheese or yogurt) and follow God’s whey, errr…way as He leads you away from the plain to the mountains of abundant life!
- Pray that you are wise enough to flee for your life when God signals danger.
- Thank God for His promise of protection from all creepy crawly things that seek your demise.
