Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
–Psalm 62:1 NIV
Do you view your time with God, whether in prayer or Bible study, as a task or a privilege? It may be easy, in our busy schedules, to look at spending time talking to God as more of a task.
Some of us wake up, read our devotional, study scripture, say our prayers, and then simply cross it off our to-do list. “Ok, I was a good Christian today, I read my Bible. Check.” While that’s okay and definitely better than not talking to God at all, instead, it would help to adjust our mindsets to viewing this time as a privilege.
We have a direct path of communication to the living God! He knows our names! He knows the number of hairs on our heads! And He cares about us and loves us! There is so much rest and comfort in that. Look at your quiet time with our Father as a time of refreshing for your soul, knowing that your salvation comes from Him.
When we use this approach, we will find even more time in our day to spend with Him as we realize how meaningful it is and that we’re so lucky.
- Pray that you would find dedicated time in your day to spend with God.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit would reveal scripture to you during this time that shows you how God is always listening.
