You Are Unique

Have you ever looked at a piece of art and thought, “Wow! That’s absolutely beautiful? It’s perfect and stunning. I wish I could do that.” The closer you look, the more you see the imperfections. A puzzle is much like that. From a distance, it looks like a beautiful work of art, or a professionally painted or drawn picture. But the closer you look you see the lines, the edges, the places where each piece meets.

There is nothing perfect about anyone’s life—not your own, or those around you. As soon as you see perfection in your own life, you risk judging others by the same standard.

But that’s not what God wants for you. He wants you to be filled completely, to enjoy the family you’ve been given, and not judge—either better or worse—those around you. Romans 12:6 says, “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” People may have similar traits, but it is not fair to say to Person A, “Please, be more like Person B,” or to Person B, “Please, be more like Person A.” God did not design you the same as every one else. Instead, He perfectly and carefully crafted and individualized you the way He desired.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that you could encourage someone to be exactly who God created them to be today.
  • Ask God to remind you of who He has crafted you to be and help you discover your gifts and talents.
