If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. -Proverbs 24:10 NKJV
When adversity comes upon you, how do you respond? Adversity is not a choice; how you react to it is. It helps to produce unwearied patience, confident faith, and unwavering courage. Some people blame God for their troubles.
They walk away from God or live with a bitter spirit. What a wasted life. God has something special planned for you. Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Adversity helps to purge something from your life. It causes you to develop a deeper relationship with God and produces unshakable faith. If you yield to adversity in your life God will grow you up through it and allow you to claim the victory He has for you.
Adversity produces a pure heart with no desire to sin. How long can you live without sin? As long as you choose. As Paul says in 2 Corinthians “when I am weak, then I am strong”.
Daily reading of the Word, the voice of God in human print, is the key to understanding and receiving the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:6 (NKJV) says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
An apprentice works under a Master. Are you still serving your first master, sin? Or have you apprenticed yourself to God?
When we regard sin’s appeal as dead and lifeless, we can ignore temptation when it comes, with the power of the Holy Spirit.
