For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
–Matthew 7:8 NIV
If-then sentences in the world of grammar are conditional statements. “If” a certain condition happens, “then” there will be a specific result.
Proverbs 2:1-5 (NIV) is filled with this if-then relationship: “My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”
God knows that wisdom is a valuable gift to His children. If you desire insight and understanding, it is up to you to apply the truths of God’s Word to your life. You have access to the greatest wisdom on all the earth—the Bible. If you make the effort to seek God with all your heart, making Him your greatest priority, then you will find the wisdom and the understanding you are looking for.
- Spend time in the Word and seek God with all your heart as if He were a hidden treasure.
- Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring you God’s wisdom.
