Thanksgiving—Who Says?

From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done.

–Isaiah 43:13 NLT

This month you have been encouraged to tell God “thanks” for something every day. Did your list seem to be never-ending? Or did you struggle to find even one thing for which to give thanks?

Without minimizing the fact that you may be experiencing the hardest season ever, you are still called to praise, worship, and give thanks to God.

Why? Because God doesn’t change; no matter what your circumstances, He will ALWAYS be worthy of praise. He’s still with you, He’s still for you, He’s still holding you in the palm of His hand.

The challenge, without being trite, is to gently pull your focus out of whatever is consuming you and allow God to become the object of your focus. Let Him—He’ll help you. It may take a fair amount of effort on your part, but He will remind you of something to be thankful for.

Oh Father, please give me a verse, a thought, even a warm-fuzzy to pull my attention away from what consumes me, and turn my focus back to You. Thanks. I love You, You’re amazing.

Prayer Focus

  • Thank God for His willingness to meet you in your circumstances.
  • Ask Him to give you one thing for which you can say “Thank you.”
