How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.
–James 4:14 NLT
Today we celebrate New Year’s Eve. We don’t know what tomorrow may bring, but we DO know Who brings every tomorrow. The psalmist says of God Almighty, “Indeed, in your sight a thousand years are like a single day, like yesterday—already past—like an hour in the night” (Psalm 90:4 GW).
Christian writer C.S. Lewis wrote of time: “The next moment is as much beyond our grasp, and as much in God’s care, as that a hundred years away. Care for the next minute is as foolish as care for a day in the next thousand years. In neither can we do anything, in both God is doing everything.” Hmmm…that profound thought may deserve a second (or third) reading.
Trusting God with your time and effort and giving Him every moment of today assures you tomorrows full of His peace and love.
- Thank God for the coming New Year and every new moment in His presence.
- Praise God for His never-failing love through His Son, your Savior, Jesus Christ.
