Tie A String on Your Finger

Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes. Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. -Proverbs 7:2-3 NLT

They say if you want to remember something, tie a string on your finger. More often than not, you can’t remember why you tied it there in the first place. It’s funny, but the truth is, part of the reason we grow weary and lose heart is because we forget what God has been doing in our midst. After a long day with setbacks you weren’t expecting, it’s easy to forget all the blessings God has provided but don’t lose heart.

Maybe tough situations cause you to forget about the good. Does a bad day at work send you down a path of anger and frustration? Does a fight with your spouse make you think your marriage is over? Thank God for your job and watch your perspective change. Thank God that he put you and your spouse together and your perspective on your marriage will likely change.

Don’t look away from God during the bad times. Fix your eyes more closely on Him.

Prayer Focus

  • Thank God for reminding you to remember all that He’s done as an encouragement when life’s troubles try to knock you down.
  • Ask God to help you keep the bad times in proper perspective.
