God’s View Of Time

When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses…we don’t know what has happened to him.”… Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go down, because your people…have become corrupt. They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol…They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it…” -Exodus 32:1, 7-8 NIV

Our perspective on time is ever changing with our circumstances. But what is time? TIME is Temporary. When you are waiting for something to happen, it doesn’t seem temporary, but just as summer eventually turns into fall and fall into winter, seasons of life eventually change too.

TIME is in between. Life has a beginning and an ending, but life is lived in between. TIME is MY point of view. In Exodus 32:1, the people got restless because Moses was “so long in coming.” It’s unclear how long they waited before creating lifeless gods. But it’s always in the “waiting” that restlessness occurs.

Galatians 2:20 says you have been crucified with Christ and you no longer live, but Christ lives within you and you live by faith—by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust—in the Son of God. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30 how to give up your restlessness and live in complete rest in Him. If you consider—not your own point of view, but God’s—during your waiting time, you can see why in Exodus 32:8 God said, “They have been quick to turn away.”

It’s when you align your life with Christ’s that time takes on a whole new perspective. TIME is Experience. It is possible to live but completely miss the point of living life. Stop waiting for the perfect reason to enjoy life. Instead, choose to live each moment as it’s given to you, since we don’t know which moment will be our last.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray for a thankful heart.
  • Pray that you can also encourage other people to enjoy the life they are living.
