Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
When you pray, God’s presence is near, because you must enter into it to take your prayers and petitions to Him. It not only surrounds you, but it protects you as well.
As verse 7 in the scripture for the day promises, it guards your heart and your mind. God knows that those two areas are the key places that the enemy will attack you. In fact, if the enemy can get into your mind and get you to believe a lie, there’s not much else he has to do. He can watch you drive yourself nuts spinning yourself out on his lie.
For example, if you believe the lie that no one is really your friend and all are against you, you’ll isolate yourself and reject anyone who tries to reach out.
If you believe you are not worthy, you’ll stay at your current level, and possibly in your current hole.
And if you believe the lie that God’s blessing is really a curse that you caused, then you will come to resent both the blessing and yourself and you will never be free to enjoy it.
But God wants so much more than that for you. He doesn’t want you to live defeated and he doesn’t want you to be worn down.
That’s why it is essential that you have a guard around your heart and mind. Walk in that protection by walking constantly in God’s Presence.
- Ask God to reveal the lies you have believed.
- Thank God for the protection he gives you to guard your heart and mind.
