Wise Guys

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years….”

–Genesis 1:14 NASB

“Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him” (Matthew 2:2 NIV).

Speaking to King Herod, the three Magi were searching. The group were learned men who knew how to read the stars. They looked to Heaven to guide them as God told them of a new beginning about to take place—the end to the old way of thinking.

Jesus was and is that new way of thinking. He is the bright Star you look to for guidance. The only gift He asks for is your heart.

When you are weary of the things of this world bearing down on you, when you are tired of the way things are, when you are looking to find a new beginning, turn to the way of the wise men and look to Heaven. Ask God to guide you to a new way of thinking. Ask your Father in Heaven the way to Jesus. He is there waiting for you as that bright Star in the sky. He is the Light of the world, and He will light your way to a fresh start.

Prayer Focus

  • Father, let my old way of worldly thinking give way to a fresh start in the name of Jesus. Let His light shine brightly in me.
  • Lord, guide me to Your Light of Heaven here on earth so that I might shine in and through its glow for others to walk in.
