Come and Worship, Pt. 1

For who in all of heaven can compare with the Lord? What mightiest angel is anything like the Lord? The highest angelic powers stand in awe of God. He is far more awesome than all who surround his throne.

–Psalm 89:6-7 NLT

Thanksgiving has come and gone, Black Friday hit, and many began moving full-tilt into the over-scheduled, high demands of the Christmas season. What can help you survive December’s month-long sprint? Worship. Focusing on the purpose of this season.

Quite a few people think that worship is about singing songs—which is true—but it’s only one facet of worship. Worship is a lot like the “thanks” people were tweeting and posting last month—it’s easy, uncomplicated, AND you don’t have to be able to sing! 🙂 It’s true, you can worship even when you’re not at church, even if you’re not on a worship team!

What is worship? Put simply, worship is focusing on God for who HE is, not for the things He’s done for you. It’s about recognizing how amazing He is, and responding. And just like when you were thanking God, worship doesn’t have to be complicated—just from your heart.

Today, take a moment to think about the bigness of God. Breathe in, breathe out, and think of one of God’s qualities or characteristics.

More on worship tomorrow.

Prayer Focus

  • Thank God for the holiday season, for Jesus coming to be born.
  • Ask God to help you develop your heart for worshiping Him.
