Because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness… -Luke 1:79 NIV
“It’s always like springtime with You, making all things new.” –Bethel, This Is What You Do
God is in the business of making things new. Reflect on these words found in Ezekiel, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.” (37:5 NIV)
Have you ever had a day or moment you wish you could take back? Have you said something hurtful to someone, or make a mistake you can’t take back? Some days your plans don’t go as imagined. And sometimes your heart just hurts.
Maybe you feel like that pile of bones in Ezekiel, exposed, breathless and without life. Remember God is your ultimate redeemer. Maybe it’s one day or maybe it’s a lifetime of regret. It doesn’t matter. The only thing you need to know is that God loves you and will make you new when you turn to Him (2 Corinthians 5:17). You don’t have to live with regret. God has forgiven you and wants you to forgive yourself.
- On this last day of the year, spend time in prayer and allowing forgiveness to enter your heart. Acknowledge God’s forgiveness and forgive yourself. Tomorrow is a new year!
- Pray for God to lead you to some goals you can make for yourself in the New Year.
