A Cosmic God | Wednesday | January 9

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? –Psalm 8:3-4 NLT

King David asks a pretty valid question in his psalm. Why would such a cosmic God be interested in us, such minute pieces of the puzzle?

God crafted each facet of the universe with passion and precision. God allows the planets and the stars to sit in just the right position to support life. God designed so many animals that scientists can only guess we coexist with 1-2 million species of animals. There are about 760,000 unique and beautiful plants species, and the Atlantic Ocean alone contains 264.17 billion gallons of water.

Then, there is you; the one thing out of all these grand designs that God has called holy, blameless, one with Christ, chosen, and His child. It is a true mystery and the foundation of our identity. You are so deeply loved and valued by the Creator of the universe. Do not allow yourself to dwell on anything negative today—just that thought of His love for you.

Prayer Focus

Do God’s thoughts of me line up with how I think of me?

Be thankful that you have been chosen to have community with the Cosmic God.
