The Comparison Game

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him.”  1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him.”  1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV

Sometimes, it’s easy to see exactly what God is doing in someone else’s life. You see powerful ministries, hear beautiful voices, and witness persuasive evangelism. Yet, often, you may find yourself in the dark about His plan for you. Your life isn’t meant to be lived randomly. What defines and refines every area of your life is your personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.

It is out of the overflow of that relationship that your life will take its real shape. So Don’t give into the temptation of comparison. Don’t look at others and think that your life would be worth more if you could “write like her,” or “speak like him”. God is the author of YOUR life; look to Him.

He has a plan for you, it may not be as public as Billy Graham’s or seem as self-sacrificing as Mother Theresa’s but He has designed you for a specific plan and purpose.

As you make drawing near to Him the priority in your life, He will teach you about yourself. You will discover the talents and gifts He has placed in your heart and you will begin to fall in love with who He has created you to be.

Prayer Focus

  • Ask God to help you to appreciate the giftings He has given other people.
  • Pray that God would help you uncover the gifts and talents He has given you.
