“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.”
–John 17:15-16 NIV
What does “carried away” mean? In fairytales, the heroine is carried away to a better place and a better life than she had been living. It’s a place where she can cast all cares away because she has her knight and he has her.
That’s what God wants for you. He wants to carry you away, wrap you in His strength and shelter you in His love. He wants you to live freely enough to cast all of your cares on Him.
You have a real enemy who is trying to steal all the power and authority granted to you by God. However, you have the advantage: Your Father is King. God reigns supreme over all of creation and nothing can deter Him from His will.
God made you a citizen of a fallen world and gave you instructions to live out His will: To keep your joy and to reach a lost and hurting world, directing its citizens to the One who wants to change their lives forever. As you carry out God’s will for others, God will change you.
- Thank God for protecting you while you are in this world.
- Ask for the strength and the courage to stand up to your enemy, knowing God has already overcome that enemy.
