For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
–Psalm 139:13 NIV
Casting Crowns, a contemporary Christian musical group, sing the song, “Does Anybody Hear Her?” It is a powerful song with a profound message. Under many church steeples there is silent suffering, hidden tears and cries, some individuals are victims of domestic violence behind closed doors.
The psalmist asks God to “Keep me safe, Lord, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from the violent, who devise ways to trip my feet” (Psalm 140:4 NIV). This verse clearly recognizes that there are wicked, violent people who mean harm. So believers need to be building churches that are places of safety for those in need. People like you and I need to listen closely, pray, and then reach out with compassion, perhaps with God’s comforting Word that can inspire inner peace, and provide reassurance.
Does anybody hear? Does anybody see? Yes! God does, and He’s preparing believers like you to share His heart with those who are brokenhearted.
- Ask God to open your eyes to see into the silent tears of the victims of abuse.
- Pray that God will provide opportunities to help people who are suffering.
