Humpty Dumpty Syndrome | Saturday | May 4

For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

–Psalm 33:9 NIV

Have you ever felt like a tennis ball with the skin removed, exploding in mass chaos? Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “What a mess!” Just like we can’t put the bands back inside the tennis ball, we often don’t know where to begin to put our lives back into order.

Did you ever stop to think that while it may look like chaos to us, maybe it’s actually organized chaos—a fractal. Every event, every trial, and every uphill climb may seem splintered and totally unrelated, but in reality they are all connected. One seemingly obscure event fits into another like putting together a model airplane. In the end, it all makes sense, no longer just a bunch of unrelated parts.

Don’t worry about the chaos. Don’t fret over what you can’t control. Trust that there is Someone who sees the beginning from the end—and that from chaos, He can bring order. The Father knows what we need to mature and to grow. He specializes in putting our lives back together.

Maybe “All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty back together again,” but we have the King who specializes in the impossible. He can put us back together again!

Prayer Focus

  • Humans see chaos, but God sees opportunities for miracles. Focus on the miraculous.
  • When things don’t make sense, let His peace be your guide.
