“Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”
–Judges 6:15-16 NKJV
Sometimes God puts a burning desire in our hearts to get involved in a particular ministry. All too often we give in to our fears; we feel inadequate, we feel like “the least.” But know this, my brother, my sister. Our heavenly Father knew every aspect of your life—your strengths, your weaknesses, your mind, your heart—way before He created you into existence.
When God called Gideon to deliver His people from the oppressive hand of the Midianites, Gideon responded to God, “I am the least.” But God responded to Gideon, “Surely I will be with you and you shall defeat the Midianites.” Dear believer, Gideon did defeat the Midianites.
I encourage you on this very day to hesitate no more. Give in to the voice of your Father. Step out of the comfort zone. Let the Holy Spirit lead you to the very thing the Lord is asking you to do.
In your heavenly Father’s eyes, you are not “the least.” You are the most beautiful and capable vessel He wishes to use. So go ahead! Your Heavenly Father is saying to you, “I will be with you.”
- Holy Spirit, help me to be sensitive to Your voice and calling.
- Help me, Lord, and rid me of the spirit of fear and hesitation, so that I can be Your vessel.
