In Safe Hands

“Having hope will give you courage. You will be protected and will rest in safety.” -Job 11:18 NLT

Linus is one of the many beloved “Peanuts” characters. Best known for carrying around what Lucy calls his “stupid blanket.” It goes everywhere with Linus who gives it its own personality as it becomes his sidekick into his daily activities.

The blanket gives Linus confidence and security and without his trusty blanket, all would be lost. Addictions and poor habits are a form of our “security blanket.” Even somewhat harmless actions or items can serve as security.

Watching a funny movie after a bad day or perhaps eating that piece of chocolate cake to bandage some sort of hurt; regardless of what it is we use to bring comfort, satisfaction, or to block out the pain completely, it’s a security that is temporal. Short lasting.

God’s security is not temporary. It is eternal and can not be quenched. His security is there each time we feel pain. God’s love is more than enough to bring us hope and encouragement. Let’s not look to the world but to God for He has an answer fitting to every circumstance life is guaranteed to give.

Prayer Focus

  • When feeling insecure, go to God and ask Him to speak comfort to you.
  • If you have a habit or addiction that is difficult to break, ask God to help you shift from worldly comfort to His comfort.
