Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. –James 1:2-4 MSG
In the Waiting – Part 1
Sometimes we feel stuck in the waiting. As we earnestly pray for God’s blessing for our lives, even the strongest grow weary. Doubt creeps in and we wonder, “What’s the point? That opportunity must not have been for me, that healing will never come, I’ll never have a child, my marriage will never be what it once was.”
We question if that promise we once believed in is just another disappointment or have we just missed the lesson?
There is growth in the waiting; but if we don’t open our hearts to His teaching, we can miss it. He’s right with us and never leaves us. Just like a parent encouraging a toddler to take those first steps, our heavenly Father stands far enough away to let us come to Him on our own, but close enough to catch us should we fall.
When the period of waiting is long, consider the idea that maybe your breakthrough isn’t cancelled, God is just asking you to wait longer or that you haven’t fully surrendered to God’s timeframe yet. Let us wait patiently for God to work in us; surrender to Him each day!
Ask the Holy Spirit to clear your mind of Satan’s distractions and show you how God wants you to grow.
Spend time in prayer today. Tell the Lord, “I surrender at Your feet. Teach me, Father.”
