For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge…. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
–2 Peter 1:5,8 NIV
When you’re faced with trials, you’re presented with great opportunity—to grow your faith, which will fill many containers with God’s fruit. The trial doesn’t supply the container or the fruit, only the opportunity. The growing of your faith supplies the containers you believe God will fill with the fruit He produces in you.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could grow your faith without trials? Maybe God could make you a stronger Christian by giving you a lot of money, perfect health, or a perfect spouse, but nothing in life is perfect. Everybody grows through a process of pruning. As something new grows, something else is cut off. Death is replaced with life.
It’s hard to welcome trials and be joyful in them, but know that you’re growing in them. When you arrive at the place of victory, God will open new doors.
- Thank God that He has the supply and simply asks you to bring the containers you believe He will fill.
- Ask Him to help you to be bold in the number of containers you bring to Him.
