It Is Not Your Battle | Thursday | May 9

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you…

–2 Chronicles 20:17 NIV

When King Jehoshaphat heard there was a great multitude of armies coming up against him, he became deeply afraid. He humbled himself and set out to seek the Lord. The Lord responded to Jehoshaphat, “You will not have to fight this battle” (2 Chronicles 20:17 NIV).

What battle are you fighting? Are you losing ground? Do you feel worn out? Do you feel defeated? Well, the Lord your God tells you that this is not your battle, but His. He tells you to be still (Psalm 46:10). All too often we are blinded by fear and carried away by a raging wave of despair and hopelessness.

In any situation, we must realize that our only hope is in Jesus—that our dependence must be completely in Him. The Lord our God, the Holy One of Israel has our back, my friend, I assure you. There is nothing to fear for He is faithful and just. There is no situation that is too difficult or big for our God. You can claim your victory. Just trust in the Lord your God—let Him fight your battle and you will certainly see the deliverance of the Lord. Amen and amen!

Prayer Focus

  • Lord, help me to learn how to become completely and totally dependent on You in every aspect of my life.
  • Holy Spirit, fill me with Your fullness so that I may not fear when I am in my battle. Help me to live a life of victory.
