Seeking the Bridegroom when Trouble Mounts

But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.

–Deuteronomy 4:29 NASB

The original role of the wedding party was for protection, and later for the encouragement of the bride. As the Bride of Christ, you have a Bridegroom who longs to be both protection and encouragement for His bride.

Today’s Scripture says God has not forsaken those who seek Him. To seek means “to tread with feet; to go to a place; to frequent” also “to study; to follow.” When you seek God, you will find Him. Isn’t that an awesome promise? And, the more frequently we sit with our Bridegroom Jesus, the more likely we are to trust what He says and follow where He leads.

Perhaps today you are struggling. Maybe disease, conflict, or financial struggles have hit you or your family. Don’t ignore what your Bridegroom is saying to you. Now is the time to go to Him, to hear and to follow what He has to say, remembering that He longs to protect and encourage His bride—you.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that you will always seek God.
  • Ask God to help you remember that, as your Bridegroom, He’s your Helper, Protector, Encourager, and Leader.
