A New Song

I waited and waited and waited for God. At last he looked; finally he listened. He lifted me out of the ditch, pulled me from deep mud. He stood me up on a solid rock to make sure I wouldn’t slip. He taught me how to sing the latest God-song, a praise-song to our God. ~ Psalm 40:1-3 TM

If you have been trusting in God to place a new song in your heart, continue to give thanks and praise to Him while waiting for your victory.

The Apostle Paul had a song in his heart, and he sang his way out of jail. Start singing your way out of your situation as he did. Prayer and praise open doors for God to begin to work on the sweet melodies of your heart, which will produce your personal God-song, a hymn of praise to Him. When God does a new thing in your life, you will add additional lyrics of praise for what He has done on your behalf.

If God has placed a new song in your mouth, do not allow anyone or anything to snatch it from you. Keep praising the Lord for all that He has done and is doing in your life. When you keep singing unto God a new song He has placed in your heart, it causes your foes to stay away. If the Holy Ghost moves you to dance, then dance; it’s a great way to keep enemies under your feet.

People with a new song in their hearts and a spring in their step, don’t care what others think when they raise their hands and jump for joy in the assembly of others while worshiping God. To them, it’s as if they are singing and dancing to an audience of One, the Maker of their new song.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray that the Maker of new songs would fine-tune your heart so you can praise and worship Him for who He is and what He has already done in your life and those around you.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to stir up within you an unthinkable, unimaginable, God-song that will have you dancing and singing with joy and praise to God no matter what is taking place around you!
