The Source of Pain

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

–2 Corinthians 12:10 NIV

God is not your source of pain. This statement was made by Bayside Community Church Lead Pastor Randy Bezet, and the remainder of his message, based on 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 was a sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat teaching that will stay with all who received the blessing of hearing it. The Bible says that God is good—it simply is not in His nature to be the cause of something bad.

From where does pain come? Apostle Paul said, “a messenger of Satan” tormented him (2 Corinthians 12:7 NIV). Pain isn’t pleasant, but it can be redeemed. Kelly Clarkson sings “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

Pastor Randy also said, “The pain you feel today will be your strength tomorrow.” Whether relational, emotional, physical, or all three, pain in this earthly life is inevitable. Pain happens, but God will turn your pain into something beautiful—if you allow Him to use you for His purpose.

Prayer Focus

  • Pray for God to use your pain for His glory.
  • Pray that you will stay strong against the roaring lion, the devil.
