Stepping Out In Faith

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. -1 Peter 2:1-3 NIV

When you want God to speak to you and guide you in a way He never has before, it can require you to take a bold step in your personal life. It could be taking a job offer, fasting something for the first time, becoming involved in a church community, or deciding to make a healthy change in your diet. Whatever God is leading you to do, listen to the urge of His call.

In Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade there is a scene when Indiana’s father has been shot and will die if Indy doesn’t return with the Holy Grail. On his trek through the caverns, he comes to a deep and wide ravine that is between himself and where he needs to go next.

It’s too far to jump and there’s nothing with which to build a bridge. So, he takes a deep breath as he steps in faith off the edge toward the side he needs to get to. He breathes a sigh of relief when he finds himself standing on an invisible bridge connecting the two sides.

Are you willing to trust God wholeheartedly to meet you exactly where you’re at and to not let you fall into that deep ravine that lies between where you are where you’d like to go? Ask Him today to show you what steps you need to start taking in order to make it to the other side. When we ask Him for His help and guidance, He’s faithful to answer and show us the way.

Prayer Focus

  • Ask God to show you the way He would like you to walk in.
  • Pray that as you step out in faith, others would be inspired to do the same.
