Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. –1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV
The Thanksgiving holiday has changed over the years. There seems to be more emphasis on Black Friday advertisements and focus on shopping than the importance of getting together with family and friends. We don’t seem to realize what a gift we have by sharing a meal and expressing our gratitude to God for His many blessings. We are all wrapped up with worries about Christmas shopping and miss what the day has been set aside for. Every one of us has something to be grateful for. Look around the table and be grateful for those who are with you. There is no guarantee the same people will be there the following year. Every day we have is a gift from God. No matter how busy our lives get, we should always be thankful for God’s goodness. There is nothing wrong with watching football and eating too much turkey—but remember, it is a day to give thanks. Thankful for everything—no matter the circumstances. This is the true spirit of thankfulness. God delights in the thanksgiving of His grateful people.
Thank God for all the blessings in your life; not only on Thanksgiving Day, but every day.
God’s love never changes. He is with you and will never leave you. That is something to be very thankful for.
