The Great I Am | Saturday | April 6

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM….” –Exodus 3:14 NKJV

When Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the Lord appeared to him in the form of a burning bush that burned but was not consumed (Exodus 3:1-3). God called to Moses to deliver the people of Israel from Egyptian bondage. Moses asked God what he should tell the people of Israel is the name of the God who sent him. God told Moses to tell the Israelites that His name is “I AM WHO I AM.”

Just as God spoke to Moses so long ago, He still speaks to us today! God says to us that He is Yahweh, the Lord our God. He will be with us and will be our strength and refuge (Psalm 46:1 NKJV). He is also EL-SHADDAI, our God almighty. There is no equal to Him. He can and will deliver us from the greatest storms in our lives. God is the one who heals us (Exodus 15:26) and who gives us strength when we feel that we can’t press on (Isaiah 41:10).

Let us reach out to the Giver of Life, Jesus! Do not fear, do not despair, for He will be with us through every circumstance. The same God who delivered the Israelites will deliver us, for He is the great I AM.

Prayer Focus

  • Dear heavenly Father, I pray that I will come to know You intimately as the great I AM.
  • I pray to see Your hand at work in my life as I go through the storms of life!
